1. Introduction
Cheese Client ("we", "our", or "the Software") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Minecraft utility mod, visit our website, or interact with our community (Discord, GitHub, etc.). By using Cheese Client, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This mod is not affiliated with Mojang AB or Microsoft.
2. Information We Collect
We collect very limited information — only what is necessary to improve the client and provide support. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Feedback & bug reports – when you voluntarily submit crash logs, suggestions, or error details via Discord, GitHub, or email. This may include your Minecraft username, system specs, and in-game context.
- Community interactions – messages you post on our official Discord or GitHub that may contain usernames or technical data.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically (Client & Website)
- Anonymous usage statistics – e.g., client version, Java version, OS type, enabled modules (no personally identifiable data). You can disable this in the client settings.
- Crash reports – automatically generated stack traces, which may include file paths and system state. These help us fix bugs quickly.
- Cookies and analytics – our website uses essential cookies (via Font Awesome, Google Fonts) and may employ simple page counters. We do not use cross-site tracking.
3. How We Use Your Information
The data we collect is used solely for:
- Improving Cheese Client’s stability, performance, and features.
- Diagnosing and fixing errors, crashes, or incompatibilities.
- Responding to your support requests and feature suggestions.
- Protecting the integrity of our community and enforcing our Terms of Service.
4. Sharing & Disclosure
We are not in the business of selling data. Your information is shared only in these limited circumstances:
- With service providers who help us operate (e.g., GitHub for repository, Discord for community). These parties are bound by confidentiality.
- When required by law – to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or prevent harm.
- Aggregated, anonymized data may be shared publicly (e.g., percentage of users on Windows 11). No individual can be identified.
Cheese Client does not share your Minecraft account credentials, IP address, or personal chats.
5. Data Retention
We retain collected information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy:
- Crash reports and analytics are typically deleted after 90 days.
- Discord messages and GitHub issues are retained according to those platforms' policies; we manually purge old, resolved threads.
- You may request deletion of your feedback or crash data at any time (see section 9).
6. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Opt out of anonymous usage collection via in-client toggle.
- Manage website cookie preferences via your browser settings.
To exercise these rights, contact us through the channels in section 9. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Cheese Client is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on our Discord server and website. Your continued use of Cheese Client after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
